Charlotte Novy is a fourteen year old rider that owns three horses. She owns Closeau aka Clu who she shows in the 12-14 Equitation as well as the 3'3" junior hunters. Novy also owns Entourage aka Waffle who she shows in the 3'3" junior hunters. She also owns a small pony called Rockefeller aka Rocky who is currently leased out. She trains with Lynn Jane of Our Day Farm.
"My favorite thing about riding is working and making connections with the horses. I am a huge animal lover, and I love seeing how I can work with my horses to train them to perform well over jumps and on the flat. Ever since I started riding at age 7, I have loved every second of being on and with the horses. My favorite thing about showing is seeing how well my training pays off, and seeing where I can improve. I am a pretty competitive person, so I find showing very fun!" responds Novy when asked what her favorite thing about riding and showing is. Her favorite horse show is the Washington International Horse Show(WIHS) because "It is very exciting to compete against the best of the best in a well-known venue in downtown Washington D.C. It's funny to think that when the Verizon Center isn't hosting WIHS, it is home to D.C.'s basketball teams and hockey team!" Novy's biggest riding accomplishment is ribboning several times at Harrisburg and Washington last year on her old pony, Hillcrest Songbird. They ribboned fifth in the handy and tenth in the stake at Harrisburg; and 2nd in the hack at Washington. Another accomplishment for Novy is moving up from short stirrups to placing 4th in the handy at WIHS on Rocky in the small pony hunters in under a year! Her goals for showing are to move up to the 3'6" Junior Hunters and start showing in the Big Equitation classes, as well as to qualify for Indoors in 2016. In the future, Novy would like to become a professional, get a first at indoors, and to compete in a Grand Prix. "My riding inspiration is George Morris. I was fortunate enough to talk with him a few times at WEF last winter, and will hopefully get to participate in some of his clinics next winter. He is so dedicated to the sport- he said that he always has a book about riding or horses sitting on the foot of his bed; that he is always learning. He is such an amazing rider and person!" said Novy when we asked her who her riding inspiration was.
