USHJA Proposed rule changes

Rule Changes

It's that time of year when decisions are made on proposed rule changes. The rules seem to change on a daily basis at times and it is difficult to keep up with the latest rules. USHJA has provided a spot on their website to allow members to read over the proposed rule changes and comment on them.  The more voices and ideas the rule change committees hear the better it can be for everyone.

Are you aware of the new naming of "AA" and "A" shows and mileage rules?? Or how about rules regarding removing your helmet??

Go to https://www.ushja.org/programs/rules/rules_prc.aspx for the latest updates.  The link is also available on the USHJA Zone 5 page on www.ChicagoEquestrian.com.

Feel free to give your opinion or suggestions on how to keep up with the rule changes.

  2. I found this proposed rule change to be interesting ( especially with regard to cell phone use):

    Proposed Change:
GR1301.9 ear buds while mounted [CHAPTER subchapter competition participants and associated individuals] add and renumber as necessary:
    GR1301.
    9. Exhibitors may not utilize ear buds or any headphones while mounted on the competition grounds or (exception: pre-approved devices for the hearing impaired). Nor may riders utilize cell phones or tablets for texting, emailing or other business while mounted. First time violations will result in the issuance of a Warning Card. Second time violations will result in the competitor being disqualified from the next class entered or a $150.00 fine if the competitor is not entered in another class. If a competitor commits a third violation a charge will automatically be filed in accordance with Chapters 6 and 7 of the General Regulations.
